ROVER P6 2200SC
APRIL
1977
|
ONE OF THE LAST ONES MADE,HAS GIVEN US MUCH PLEASURE IN THE TIME WE HAVE OWNED IT.IT WAS BOUGHT TO GIVE MY WIFE A SPECIAL BIRTHDAY TREAT
BY WAY OF A NOSTALGIA TRIP TO HEARTBEAT LAND LAST
YEAR,WHEN WE DID SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES AROUND
THE YORKSHIRE MOORS.THIS CAR WAS PARTLY RESTORED BY "CLASSIC CAR CLINIC " IN 2001 THEY FITTED NEW FRONT DISCS AND PADS,NEW FRONT BRAKE PIPES,NEW WATER PUMP ETC.
THEY ALSO RESTORED THE FLOORPAN BY MEANS OF CUT AWAY AND WELD NEW INNER SILLS,FLOOR PANS OUTER SILLS JACKING POINTS DOOR STEPS AND CHANNELS.THE OLD TANKS REALLY SOLID.ITS OWNER AT THE TIME MUST HAVE REALLY LOVED THIS CAR THE WORKS COST HIM £1557,SADLY HE DIED A WEEK LATER AND THE CAR SAT IN HIS GARAGE TILL LAST YEAR UNUSED.

|
the car looks good and attracts a lot of attention.but it should be noted it does want some attention to the bodywork, its not a rot box but at 33 years there is some deterioration.the boot lid and decker panel have cast some paint from the aluminum surface (common problem on the p6 )front doors aint great.frames solid, but skins need attention sometime, there has been a few brushed touch up over the years.but still looks the buisness.
|
this car is by no means concours, but if you are willing to give it some body work time it could be great without spending £2000 to £3000 on a restored car. |
|
interior is free from rips and tears,no missing trim. 1 door capping is attatched by screws on surface, not blind.the rear armrest seam needs stitching for about 3 inches.
|
SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR I HAVE DONE A LOT TO IT TO RECOMMISION IT AFTER ITS LONG ABSENCE FROM THE ROAD
AND ENSURE RELIABILITY.
I HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP
FULL SERVICE
NEW BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR
FULL EXHAUST SYSTEM
REPLACED HEADLIGHTS (£100)
FULL BRAKE OVERHAUL
NEW MOT
TYRES ARE VIRTUALLY NEW
IT RUNS ON UNLEADED FUEL |
 |
recorded mileage just over 64000,mot's and history seem to support this.
SOME HISTORY AND RECEIPTS ARE PRESENT AS ARE SOME OLD MOT'S.
I FIND I CAN ACHEIVE 25 MPG ON RUNS WHICH IS EXCELLENT FOR THIS MODEL,AS LONG AS THEY ARE SERVICED AND KEPT IN TUNE THEY ARE LIKE THIS. |
|
seats are all tear free, and are made of box pleat vinyl |
no problem with any of the d panels |
 |
came to me with this set of 3500s wheel trims,i have fitted the right ones so these go with the car if you want a change.it also has spare exhaust parts middle box and back box, both almost new,i put a full new system on so these were to good to throw away. |
original jack in place as is the spare wheel cover.the cars colous as you might just make out in the image is richleiu |
nice clean engine bay |
 |
AS WE NOW HAVE 3 CARS AND A 4TH IMMINENT SPACE HAS BECOME A PROBLEM,SO THE OLD BOY HAS TO MOVE ON,ALSO I DO NOT HAVE A GARAGE TO STORE THE ROVER OVER WINTER AND DONT WANT TO SEE IT WASTING AWAY OVER THE WINTER MONTHS.
